Master Game Schedule (2009)
The Quakes have invited our organization back for the 09 baseball season.
Scheduling: Review the game schedule and provide the dates you would like to work by answering this survey
You will receive a confirmation from Lonie Mathewson or Beth Tanakaya that you are scheduled for the day(s) you requested. REQUESTING A DATE DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU THOSE DATES. YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED OF YOUR WORK DATES. Spots are filled on a first come first served basis. Home and cell phone numbers are needed in case we need to contact you at the last minute. When looking over the Quakes schedule please notice that there are a couple of weekday, day games during the school year which the students cannot work, therefore we will need more parent workers. So those adults that can work please sign up to work these games. We will be charged by the Quakes a $25.00 fee for any worker spot not filled. If a spot/spots are already filled you will be put on the wait list.
You may schedule several games at a time or for the whole season at one time. The student spots usually fill up fast as most of the students schedule for the whole season at once. Please only schedule dates you are sure you can work, as it is sometimes difficult to find a replacement worker, which you will be responsible to find yourself. It is imperative that all worker spots be filled for all games!! If you are unable to make the start time please contact Lonie as we may be able to make arrangements for those who are unable to start at the beginning of the game due to work schedules. Please let Lonie know when sending your requested dates of this need.
We are now required to have on-call replacement workers for each game. Please indicate which games you will be willing to be on call for. It is imperative that you are available during that game in case you are called in. Because we are making you responsible for finding your own replacement when you cannot work, we are asking all workers list themselves on the replacement list so you have people to reach out to, to work for you. Always try to cancel far enough out to get a replacement worker. As the season goes on and more students become available to work, often we have several students that can pick up a day or two; our problem is the parent involvement. Each stand will always require more adults to work than students; therefore this fund raiser cannot work without the parents, grandparents, family members, or friends.
Anyone can work the quakes for your students account. This is a big money maker for your child's band, winter guard, or drum line fees, shirts, warm ups, gloves, shoes and as well as earning toward your child and your family to attend the Italy trip. We earn a percentage of the profits of the two stands. We work out an hourly rate which will vary month by month. The boosters are paid by the Quakes at the end of each month. You will not receive the money yourself. The student will be credited for the funds earned on their behalf. If you start to work in April, you have nearly 2 months of games to help get you started on your first band payment in May. Last season a student worked 4 games in one month and earned $130.
Dates not on the Quakes schedule that we will be working:
There will be an Orientation/Training day Saturday April 11, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. - Sportservice is requiring ALL workers to attend. They will not allow you to work unless you have had this training. This applies to all new and returning workers. Please bring a copy of your Food Handler's License and work permit(for students) with you that night.
July 4th: This is not a game. We are working the fire works show, time to be announced later. Due to workers vacationing at this time, please consider working this day if you will be in town. For the July 4th, 2009 event the group compensation will be 10% of net sales or $60 per worker less any shortages or other charges.
Reporting Time: All workers: Mon - Sat: 5:30pm / Sun (April - June): 12:30 / (July/ Aug): 3:30 (The start times may be later for students on week days as they can only work 4 hrs per shift. May be 5:00 on Sat and Sun). The start time for some Cashiers may be 5:00 for set up. If you are able to start at 5:00 please indicate that on your sign up request.
The end times for games are different every day. The average for Mon - Sat is usually between 9:30-10:00pm. Sometimes we end earlier and on very few occasions, later. As sales slow down, workers will be individually released early for the night. If you need to leave early for a specific game it is imperative that you let me know ahead of time as I will need to make arrangements with the Quakes management.
Roles and Responsibilities: Students are Facilitators. The minimum age to work is 16. Facilitators prepare the stands, stock the stand throughout the evening and after each game, get the orders for the customers, clean stand and help with inventory. Adults are cashiers. Minimum age for a cashier is 18. Cashiers take the orders, run the register, consolidate the register at the end of the evening and assist with clean up and inventory.
Every worker, adults and students, must have a food workers certificate. Please refer to the food handler class schedules that Chaffey College has at three of their locations, the Rancho, Chino, and Fontana campuses. The cost is $22.00, Cash Only. Since there is no registration and it is based on first come, first served you should arrive at least ½ hr to 45 minutes before the class is scheduled to start. These food handler licenses are good for 3 years. Please make sure I get a copy of this certificate as I have to turn them into the Quakes. If you cannot get this certificate before your first scheduled work date please contact me.
Uniform: We are required to wear: Black docker style pants, no exceptions (Dickie's are not recommended as they are much thicker so will be very hot). We will no longer be wearing our purple/black shirts. We must wear a white t-shirt or tank to wear under Quakes uniform shirt which will be handed out at each game at check in and returned at end of shift. If shirt is not returned you will be charged a $25.00 fee. Black skid proof tennis shoes. No Vans or Van style shoes as they are not skid resistant. Must be all black (no white trims) no exceptions. Sportservice hats must be worn at all times and will be provided by Quakes. Hair shoulder length or longer must be put into a pony tail. Up in a clip is not recommended as the hat my not fit properly.
The Quakes have a dress code that we must follow. NO: visible tattoos, body piercing, jewelry (except for wedding rings), hats (other than the designated hats), shorts, sandals, open toed shoes, denim, or sweat pants work out pants or anything other docker style.
Any worker not adhering to this dress code will not be allowed to work their shift and will be charged the $25.00 fee the Quakes will be charging our group if they need to replace you.
